In the midst of the pandemic when live venues were pretty much silent, Live Fact survived by pivot after pivot — crowdfunding, live streaming, applying grants, selling merch, and relying on the goodwill it had built from local bands and followers, helping it stay afloat. Now it’s time for the show to go on again! Live gigs will be opened to fully vaccinated Malaysians nationwide after having been shuttered for more than one year.

Azmyl & the Truly Asia is the stage moniker of the power trio behind singer-songwriter-guitarist Azmyl Yunor’s latest album ‘John Bangi Blues’ (2020) which features drummer Ammar Khairi (from Vega) and bassist Kristopher Chong (from Salammusik). Produced by fellow troubadour Ariff Akhir, the bi-lingual 10-track album – described by New Musical Express (NME) as sounding like “a bastardised marriage between Muddy Waters and the Sex Pistols” – was recorded live in the studio in three hours in November 2019. It features Azmyl’s most biting social commentary on Malaysia’s cultural politics set to Ammar’s and Krist’s tight melodic rhythms. For this show they have guitarist N.R. Lohan (from Cats in Love) as special guest to give the songs extra ummphhh live! Get the CD format of the album (which includes free limited stickers) and exclusive merch at the show! Still NOT available on your usual streaming platforms – #spotlokal for REAL!
Breaking the boundaries, and venturing into unknown spectrum of sounds – delving deeper into fusion of lyrical aesthetics and at times heedlessly confrontational. SPEAKZODIAC are creating music from a mysterious and foreign place without separating the essentials of what truly matters in a song or a musical composition. Establishing a unique bond to their listeners and taking them by surprise each second with their crafts, SPEAKZODIAC without compromisation have really pushed the act of innovation and perfection while developing their own sound differentiating them from their contemporaries. It’s hardly just a band you are listening here, but a collective of restless spirits in close contact, ever chargingly evolving to push and challenge their limits and themselves. With their incredible play of dynamics, accompanied by a voice displaying both strength and fragility, on top of a dreamy and floaty dense of musical ride instrumentation, every beat signifies a rhythm of a heartbeat building magnitude and momentum, picking up speed sending listeners to deliverance, and sporadically slowing down to provide occasional air to breathe.
