LOKO

Freedom, flexibility, and originality, three words to describe the identity of LOKO, an alternative indie rock band consisting of two members. Leploko (lead) and Acap (vocal and rhythm).

LOKO’s journey originally started as a hobby, performing and jamming throughout their high-school years back in 2013. They decided to kick start their career as musicians in indie music but would love to implement an experimental and diverse approach when producing music in the future.

They managed to release their first single debut titled Pujaan Hati along with an official music video that reached 1 million viewers on Youtube.

LOKO believes that music is a form of art in story-telling and can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age. In hopes to be one of the well-known local bands specializing in the production of original music and inspire musicaholic-youth like them to follow their dreams.

empty page. is lovingly described by their fans as an ‘Emo Melayu’ band, based on their melancholy sound & lyrics. The 4-piece band describes their music as “hopeless romantic thoughts set to catchy pop tunes”, combining their rock band roots with elements of modern pop, ballads, and even folk music.

Jaggfuzzbeats

From the concrete wallows of cigarettes and worldly disenchantment, Azrul Zainal (guitar, vocals) and Omar Aiman (drums) laid the foundations of Jaggfuzzbeats back in 2014 in Shah Alam, Malaysia. The indie-rock duo’s journey began on SoundCloud, with the release of their debut tracks ‘Hours’ which poignantly put, was “roughly produced in Azrul’s bedroom”. Successfully capturing the hearts (and ears) of many, this then paved the way for a slew of singles and eventually the duo’s debut 8-song album ‘Rest Now’ — which according to JUICE Online “has all the hallmarks of the band; Azrul’s country drawl and twang, infectious guitar licks, foot-tapping drum patterns, and vague-albeit-heart firmly on the sleeves lyrics.” Nabil from The Level describes the duo as “pure, unadulterated indie rock that’s simple and easy to get into.”

The first inklings of the ‘Subtle Shift’ EP appeared in 2019 (‘In Time’ and ‘Fade’) and continued through 2020 (‘Not My Fault’ and ‘Sweet Darling’). A project that’s been a long time coming and a labour of love, the 6-song EP is described as “a pat on the back, a slap in the face and a warm embrace.”

“This EP is an insight into us hitting that quarter-life crisis benchmark and really going through it,” says Omar, of the EP’s essence and the duo’s journey. Speaking on the projects’ significance, Azrul adds: “We’re more hands-on this time around and the direction of the sounds is definitely where we see ourselves at the moment.”

Spooky Wet Dreams

Spooky Wet Dreams is an indie alternative band from Klang Valley that was formed in 2015. Founded by twins Shazwan Zulkiffli (Ze) and Shazwani Zulkiffli (Nani), later joined by Salihin Rizal (Sal), Aqil Nasri, Matt Liew and Arief Fuad, the group has been actively gigging across South East Asia since the release of their first EP, Cold Pizza Party.

Citing The Strokes, Foo Fighters, The Beatles, The Vaccines and The Killers as their major influences, the band’s material has always been centered around everything Malaysian – from the cheeky tribute to the twins’ hometown in chart-topping ‘Ipoh Girls’, to pushing reforms in the country’s education sector with ‘Ini Sekolah Bukan Kilang!’ that even got the support of the newly-elected MPs.
